I don't doubt, and indeed I very much hope that you'll begin to develop your own intuition about such things the more progress you make, because the ability to follow one's heart in these matters is what I think is the real beauty of creation.

Oh, yes and for what it's worth my eldest nephew also is autistic (I happen to be one of few people who he used to be willing to talk with as well, as he was enthusiastic about the topics of art and Japan which I knew something about), and as such I'm quite familiar with how they tend to see the world a bit differently. I don't by any means have any issues with an analytical system of viewing things, just again it's obviously not anything that's ever been particularly applicable to me personally.WhiteDiamondshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15330881754157567212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-12071524565083383792012-02-14T16:03:56.485-08:002012-02-14T16:03:56.485-08:00@WhiteDiamonds

I guess I'll leave it be for now.

I think it would be more enjoyable not to treat it as such, but so far I have found it easier to learn that way. If I know what I "should" do, I'm more likely to be satisfied with the result because I'm sure that it was done the way that I see as "correct", or more towards how I wanted it to be. I think that it's likely due to a lack of experience, and it should come more naturally when I can be sure that it is the way that I want it without strictly following the guidelines that I perceive to be the rules. Once I piece together an understanding of the practice, I might be able to go without them.Anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754436942706509679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-5457314425038724892012-02-14T15:25:19.756-08:002012-02-14T15:25:19.756-08:00@Anon

I think you're worrying about all of this far more than is necessary my dear, and if I may say, maybe over-analyzing things a bit more than is really warranted.

I'll say it again: if people merely want to offer the feedback on my artistic works then go on their way, they're welcome to do so and I very much appreciate them taking the time at all. If people are looking for more of a social atmosphere and want to stay and "hang out", then by all means I hope they'll feel free to do that, too. I think you should write your text-walls if you enjoy doing so; visitors know they don't need to read them or respond to them if they don't feel like it (and I truly doubt it discourages them from posting, as after all witness how zhoomcar, Katie and Cinnamon Fritter joined in on the conversation on the 'Commission #4' post), and the rest of us can respond as we see fit. I would never expect people who have posted here on a regular basis to continue to do so for forever, or any time a new topic pops up... after all, people's lives and responsibilities change, as well as their interests. CaineScroll has been shorter on time recently and busy with his own projects as he has already told us, and I'm sure Favo has his own perfectly valid reasons as well. There's nothing wrong with any of it.

So, yes, again if you want to write long posts and converse about whatever various subjects, go right ahead. If you feel as though you're somehow to blame for any change in atmosphere around here and as such, wish to cut back more than you're perfectly free to do that too, even though I'll disagree with the latter point for the reasons I already prattled about at length.

Regarding art, well... allow me to say only that I personally feel it shouldn't be treated like an exact science dear, any more than making friends should be or falling in love. But of course, that's only my own opinion on the subject.WhiteDiamondshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15330881754157567212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-30808533729094560132012-02-14T14:15:05.497-08:002012-02-14T14:15:05.497-08:00"(certainly it's nothing like an exact sc..."(certainly it's nothing like an exact science)"

Not unless you make it one. *Ahem*

I didn't mean to tone down politeness or acceptance, just that, well, the problem is that we seem to be making this blog unapproachable to people. I don't want to make it something that you have to be a "part of the club" to comment. I'll let you have control over it, but my worry is that we are setting the standard too high for everyone. Just look at what it was like before I got here. Everyone came to enjoy it without a care or a worry. It wasn't a massive wall of text for the selected few. It was for everyone. I feel like I may have taken too much of an advantage of this place. It's more important that everyone can enjoy the chat then me getting to put word walls over everything.

But yes, I will do whatever you'd prefer.Anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754436942706509679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-85968974187181832682012-02-14T14:12:18.033-08:002012-02-14T14:12:18.033-08:00It seems that everyone else gets high ratings on s...It seems that everyone else gets high ratings on some chracters, low and something in-between on others. Nearly all of mine were close to the top (even Rainbow Dash was more than halfway), except for Pinkie. I wouldn't be surprised if she had eaten her slice of the chart.

@WhiteDiamonds

I was really just referring to the literal sense, which I cannot relate to. I'm more of the "supportive best friend", or the "best man" at weddings. If I was a writer, I could probably write romance for the characters, but not for myself. In general terms, Rarity IS Romanticism. Those other terms are the ones that I would rather relate myself to.

Ah yes, I'm living in the world of pre-episode 1 Twilight. Disregard friendship; acquire knowledge. I used to know someone that had autism (image pilfered from his Google+), and he was everything that sets me apart from most people, tenfold. He was a programmer, a year older than me, and could remember any combination or solve any math equation in seconds. Most of the time, he did not use capital letters, and ended his sentances in a beat (".."). He showed no signs of excitement or emotion. His aspirations were high, and he was doing everything that he could to achieve them, because satisfaction was the only thing that he cared about in life. I was one of the very few people he spoke to. Most of the people in the community, despite that it was a programming community (we were all of similar ages, which was just a coincidence), did not understand him. I did not understand him either, but I understood him the best. I remember him mentioning that he was reading a math book while we were talking. Most of our conversations related to his autism, as I tried to make sense of it. He was depressive and condescending, but extremely accomplished beyond what a normal person would think possible. He described his aversion to social interaction as a fear of humans. It was irrational, and he could like and respect people, but he was much more comfortable communicating on the computer rather than face to face. At 16, he dropped out of high school and went to MIT (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology), where he will be attending until 2017. He told me that his worst course was Physics, because it was time consuming. He said that it was mostly calculus (which he said was easy, but time consuming) and mathematics that he already knew. Judging by the comments on his DeviantArt page, though, things seem to have gotten better. That's a nice ending to that story.

So yes, apparently my personality can be described as "minor autism". Analysis is how I learn and understand things, which I always strive to do. If you have ever taken a look at the MBTi types, you would not be surprised to hear that I am primarily an INTJ. (Scientist? Strategist? Coordinator? Mastermind? I can't complain.) Not everything that they say applies to me (in fact, sometimes they are contradictory to eachother), but the most common pages on it are these two. Try not to read too deeply into that, since I act differently depending on the situation and believe that I could easily change myself if doing so would be beneficial. You can probably see now why art is so foreign to me. I really got to be that way after puberty. I often act in ways that are opposite to that description, but usually people never wind up seeing it. That's because I honestly have such high standards for friends, and I don't openly express myself in a positive manner to just anyone.Anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754436942706509679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-80108931275579655972012-02-14T13:16:16.173-08:002012-02-14T13:16:16.173-08:00@Favo

But, as I said on the other post I like that one quite a lot too (I can't help but smile when I look at it), and it's obviously about what you like and are feeling anyway, so there's never any need to justify it.

Regarding your decisions and myself, I'm very glad to hear it, though as I said I do hope you'll feel free to add your thoughts whenever you see fit. Without concerning yourself too much about ongoing conversations, formality or whatever the case may be. And I apologize if I disappointed you somehow, but even now I'm not entirely sure what you might have been hoping for a response to (I realize I already gushed at length about mini-Rarity and how incredibly surprised and flattered I was by the gesture so I can't imagine it was that, thank you for saying I deserve it though). The fact that you find my gleeful jabberings cute perhaps? Well that's sweet if you think so dear, I suppose I do have a difficult time hiding my excitement sometimes... ^^;;

@Kateasaurus

My dearest darling Katie, I sincerely hope you never feel as though your contributions to discussions on this blog are not something I enjoy wholeheartedly! Because, I assure you, they certainly are, and relevant to the opening subject matter or not. Especially seeing as how I always seem unable to comment on your blog as I've said, and I believe I'd even mentioned I was considering making a dA account just so that we can converse more easily before you started joining in on conversations on the other post. I would feel very sad if you ever stopped posting here for any reason other than personal preferences, I hope you know that, but of course it's your choice if you decide you'd rather do so.

@Anon

On that note, I guess I really should have made an effort to respond to this earlier. I'm going to echo the sentiments that I shared with Katie above, as well as disagree with the notion that any of us should have to "tone it down". Because indeed, I think saying that would be judgmental of me and create a less-than-welcoming atmosphere on the blog. I've always hoped everyone would feel comfortable to post here, and indeed I've often worked very hard to ensure that it feels that way for everyone, whether they wish to simply drop a comment now and again or else stay and partake in more involved conversation. Neither one is a bad thing, and both are and have always been equally welcome.

So, yes in other words I hope everyone here will always feel free to ramble as much as they darn well please. That's another thing we have in common though, apparently, though I suppose in my case I can see it a little more easily. I also find it terribly amusing that I am apparently the anti-Applejack, heeheehee~

@Anon

Oh well yes I was, but that does make far more sense anyway. I guess that means I probably should have paid closer attention to my own results, myself... ah well.

I'm not at all surprised that you got Twilight Sparkle as your top result too, and especially considering the fact that you readily admit she's the one most like yourself (as if it wasn't obvious though. I hope you don't mind my saying so darling but I don't believe I've ever met anyone quite so analytical in my life). Regarding Rarity though, if I may say dear I actually think that romance is very much a part of who she "really is". In every sense of the word that is, and not just the most literal definition, meaning her love of drama and beauty and the amount of passion she puts into everything she does. She is practically artistry itself personified (er, ponyfied?)!

In that vein I have to say I found that Pony MBTi image to be most interesting, as well as accurate to the characters (or the ones we know about really; I think it's harder to say on some of them such as Cheerilee). I don't believe I've ever taken that test before but now I'm feeling curious just what my results would be!

And is it really so terribly obvious that I think so much about my physical appearance? ^.^;; Meheh...

@BND

You just don't feel inclined to write as much as some of the rest of us do dear, nothing wrong with that. But you do take the time to comment all the same and that's something that I appreciate very much. ^.^

I know what you mean about the artwork as well; I do that oftentimes myself. I think creating art is more of process of following gut feelings than anything else (certainly it's nothing like an exact science), and indeed I often find myself reworking ideas until I'm able to glance at them and see that they "feel" right and complete. It's very interesting how that process seems to work.

@zhoomcar

Aw that avatar! The first question or so nearly made me quit right away (What is my favorite color? How does that have any bearing on my personality? What if I don't have one? What is my favorite number? What?), and I wish it was less obvious which answer leads to which character since at times I felt like I was literally telling them which character I was. I also found the season one odd (Which character is more Winter, and which is more Fall? There are only four choices.), and the element and super power ones just confused me (Which mane 6 is more Fire, which is more Ice and which is more Electricity? What kind of question is this? Which mane 6 can be symbolized by Clubs? Is rock, paper scissors an accurate indicator of personality? Which character to they think watches anime? Who does it add to if I pick "Sea Pony"?), and I wasn't sure about some of them (Especially the holiday locations and forms of art. I like all of them.), but I did complete it. My results for all of the characters were high, except for Pinkie Pie, which was completely empty. It looked like a pie, and the "Pinkie" pie slice was cut out. But I think that this might have been cause by an active avoidance of Pinkie-like answers. The rest were fairly close together, with Rainbow Dash unsurprisingly being the second lowest. Also unsurprisingly, my highest was Twilight, which was at maximum. I wish I had gotten more Rarity, but her answers tended to relate to romance rather than what really makes her who she is. Of course, this makes me want to make a more scientific version...Anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754436942706509679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-3478077454936638722012-02-11T22:33:57.157-08:002012-02-11T22:33:57.157-08:00@WhiteDiamonds

I was judged to be mostly Twilight, which I was quite happy with. I was shocked to also contain quite a lot of Pinkie Pie as well, which seems an unlikely combination to me. Then I realized that the two do share moderate to severe mental instability in common, so that was a little unsettling.

I had a healthy amount of Rarity and Fluttershy, but was largely deficient in Dash and Applejack. I may need to take some supplements of some sort to make up for that.AJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17855976959286840085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-85195077354088488292012-02-11T21:56:26.176-08:002012-02-11T21:56:26.176-08:00@Harwick

I am truly very fortunate to have such lovely friends and followers, as I find myself saying again and again recently. And yes, on that note you're right; Jody truly is a dear. ^_~

And you silly goober you. You are perfectly likable enough as it is, or at least *I* think so, and nobody can blame you if you don't take what little free time you probably get in your busy life to keep up with a mini-pony community as I have recently found myself doing. We all know you're a busy person, and indeed I always feel lucky you take the time to post on my blog and comment on my work at all. On that note, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the photos and such as well, and I can only hope that I'll be able to post that artwork up for you all to see soon enough.

And yay, we are the same, though judging by Anon's statistics this is not altogether an extraordinary coincidence. This also makes me think of another poll that was recently posted on EqD, the Bronyland pony personality test. I have to wonder if any of you bothered to take it when it popped up there the other day, and if so what your results might have been... I will let you all speculate as to what my totally honest answers ended up saying about me.WhiteDiamondshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15330881754157567212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-53614468695042749342012-02-11T21:56:22.927-08:002012-02-11T21:56:22.927-08:00@WhiteDiamonds

Well, it's nice that you have good non-blog followers as well. It was probably commissioned as a gift, then sent to you in gratitude for being who you are to everyone.

Judging by the description and Harwick's results, it sounds like Midland is the most common. My answers were mostly all just "They...they all sound the same!" (The only exceptions being 10, 11 and 13...)

She isn't really a famous figure, it's just a popular YouTube video. I really was just going by that short description, and I didn't think that the eyes looked very close, either. They look sort of mean with those eyebrows, and not like most people would look. She looks better in some other videos, but if anything, you sound better. I think that you worry too much about what we might think due to how much it means to you, but I would be conscious about it as well. It really doesn't mean that much to me, what you look like or if I interpreted it precisely. You will still be yourself, and it certainly doesn't make a difference here. (The same cannot be said about me, who has gender and age stereotypes to balance out in my favor.) It really isn't necessary, anyway.Anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754436942706509679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-48274389377044215472012-02-11T21:28:25.839-08:002012-02-11T21:28:25.839-08:00@zhoomcar

It is a nice surprise to see you around and posting again as I know you've been busy. Certainly (as I believe I said before) I hope you never feel obligated to comment on anything if you don't feel up to it, and in regards to the lengthy conversation on my 'Commission #4' post it's no wonder you didn't feel like tackling a bunch of comments. As I said, at times I really have a tough time keeping up with all the activity on this blog myself but as I do enjoy it at least, I do my best to squeeze it in whenever I can.

Anyway though thank you very much for all of the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures as well. Including the ones of Grace. Happily she doesn't seem to have any interest in eating anything special other than dairy products (she actually will not even touch chicken or fish as I've found out; she is a very odd cat) and all of my poor houseplants. But yes, I really am a very lucky person to have received such a sweet and thoughtful gift.

It's nice to hear everything is going well on the art front for you as well, or by the sounds of things anyway! Though I have to echo some of the other comments here and say that I hope you're not allowing yourself to be forced against your will into creating characters and Tumblrs. That's rather the impression you gave me at least! I also am happy to hear that the commission is coming along smoothly and I very much am looking forward to seeing the finished product when you get there... I can only hope I'll be able to get my own artwork up for you all to see too.

@Favo

Darling, you changed your avatar! Such a strange thing to see posts written by you that are not accompanied by Pinkie Pie, but I have to say that I approve wholeheartedly. ^.^ Very tasteful.

I actually did receive that email of yours dear, just a little while ago when I got home from work and was planning on responding once I got these comments a bit more under control. I have to say that I'm a little sorry you feel the need to withdraw more but of course I understand, and as I said to CaineScroll I can hardly blame anyone if they feel a bit daunted by the mountain of comments that tend to build up on some of these posts. Certainly you should never feel obligated to reply to anything you have no interest in. I have to say though that I sincerely do hope I didn't have too much do to with this in the "overcivilized manners" that you mentioned (I've said before my friends all tell me I come across as a bit stuffy sometimes) because the last thing I ever want to do is alienate people, but again I understand if this is the case. I'm afraid in this instance the 'fancy dinner-party' analogy you used for my blog is surprisingly accurate, and I realize that such an environment is not always to everyone's tastes...

I truly do enjoy your own unique energy 'livening the place up' though when you are inspired to post, so I hope you'll continue to do so whenever something pops up that interests you. Thank you for always being a source of good cheer to me, my dear. ^_^WhiteDiamondshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15330881754157567212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-49284928192772884862012-02-11T21:19:46.948-08:002012-02-11T21:19:46.948-08:00@Anon

You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. Although I suppose I'd have to be more likeable... which, judging by all that you do here, seems like a lot of work.

Really though, that's such a generous gift... hand made and well done at that. Plus, it really couldn't be more adorable. Kudos to the artist who made it and sent it to you.

I especially like the picture of her standing Imperiously atop the sewing machine, as a stern but dynamic taskmaster of creativity.

A fine collection of mini-ponies you have as well! That Jody is also a generous one. I managed to find all of the mane six, (minus Fluttershy, who isn't accurate anyway so I don't overly mind.) Plus I grabbed a bunch of random ones for my little cousin because she likes a good pony as well. (Go figure.) So now tiny ponies watch me as I type. Silently judging me.

Looking forward to the new artwork, when it becomes ready to post!AJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17855976959286840085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-33748797687294038252012-02-11T20:55:20.829-08:002012-02-11T20:55:20.829-08:00@Anon
Well, to be perfectly honest I actually do ...@Anon

Well, to be perfectly honest I actually do have something of an idea of who made my splendid little Rarity plush based on the return address and the note that was sent along with her, and it's not the person you seem to think it is. I also do not believe that the artist and the anonymous source of the gift are the same individual, if you understand me, but I'm doing my best not to speculate too much here as again, I wish to respect my benefactor's seemingly desired privacy! Even if I truly do wish to glomp said person... (you know who you are and I love you for it, at least! <3)

Anyway though thanks so very much for all of the kind words, my dear... I really did feel like the luckiest girl alive yesterday! =^^= And yes it is immensely flattering and humbling for me to look back on everything contained in the above post, and to think about how wonderful all of you are. I've never gotten overly involved in any fan communities as I think I mentioned before but even still, it's perfectly clear to me that I've found something special with this one.

Well dear, just for you I went ahead and took that accent test, and according to it I have a Midland accent (which apparently means I have a good voice for television and radio. Isn't that a nice compliment). I'm not sure how entirely accurate that is but it says (and I quote) "'You have a Midland accent'" is just another way of saying 'you don't have an accent'", so I guess that means I have a generic voice. Well I told you all that I do not really sound British, I just speak properly is all!

Lastly, I've never heard of Amy Walker before but taking a look at that video I can tell you that I look essentially nothing like her. ^.^; Or well, not really anyway. I don't honestly remember describing myself here before other than mentioning the fact that I have long dark hair and am not very tall (by the sounds of things it seems Katie and I might be the very same height, with me perhaps having a slight edge) so I don't really know what you were basing your mental image on, but no I look quite a bit different. My hair is darker than hers for one thing (not black, but dark) and my eyes are entirely different; I'm frequently told that I have very large (but apparently, nice) eyes. Well, perhaps one of these days I shall overcome my trepidations and post a photo of myself here... in the meantime though I hope I didn't tarnish your vision of me too much!

@BND

Oh, my, risqué indeed! And I have to wonder why Fluttershy is kissing someone if she seemingly feels slightly uncomfortable doing so. But, despite the fact that the subject matter is not really to my general tastes I have to say that you've improved quite a bit already dear... your coloring and linework are both nicely crisp and clean. Thank you for sharing it, anyway (I really need to draw more Inkie Pie fanart...)!

@Kateasaurus

I know right, isn't she just darling! =^.^= I still can't help but smile every time I look at her!

And yes as I said Rarity and Bernadette just seem like they were made to compliment each other, and I'm so incredibly happy that I have such a adorable co-pilot to keep me company the next time I'm working on a project! It's just too fabulous really.WhiteDiamondshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15330881754157567212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-30495114640580742202012-02-11T20:22:01.920-08:002012-02-11T20:22:01.920-08:00@Favo
I think I've said it before, but cute, ...@Favo

I think I've said it before, but cute, yes... Admittedly, it fits.

After CaineScroll has said essentially the same thing, I think we're isolating people that can't relate themselves to what we're doing and talking about. It's entirely understandable that you would want to distance yourself from such a situation. If the long conversations on this blog were all about something like fashion, I would have nothing to input, I would have no interest and I would just be on to comment on the new artwork before leaving until next time. I think that there is a lot of belaboring of points around here, and we had hit on some negative topics recently. They aren't so enjoyable to talk about, and takes attention away from the art and ponies that we are here for. If I had found a place on the internet where people were having long conversations about their lives, would I try to join in? Of course not. You never really did get into them, and that's fine. It's just that, when new entries are few and far between, there isn't much else to do than let the chat wander. But for that reason, I don't think that much really has changed. I would urge you never to make "final decisions" that will take options away from you, because we aren't always going to go so deep into things that are so far away from the point or what makes us happy, but if you want to clarify your stance on such things then that's fine. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure how much I feel like jumping back into the last entry's comment section for more long-winded discussion about whatever. I doubt that I will care to participate in every comment thread that starts up here, either. As long as you haven't left the blog, and we'll still be able to see what you think of the entries, you're still generally as much here as you were yesterday. And you might not think that I understand, but I think that I do. We're forfeiting the carefree enjoyment for the sake of careful wording and civility. Some things just aren't worth it.

Maybe this is a sign that we should all calm down a bit. I need to rest my hands, and when you get out of the meticulous mines of a deep conversation, you realise how much there really isn't to say. It might be a good idea to make this place more viewer-friendly.Anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10754436942706509679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1815265967021708537.post-20081379416966848772012-02-11T19:23:53.116-08:002012-02-11T19:23:53.116-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Favohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13659911296132032331noreply@blogger.com
