Blessed Black Friday, Everypony!

I know, it doesn't have quite the same ring as "Happy Thanksgiving" I'm afraid, but as once again I am fashionably late with finishing my artworks and updating my blog accordingly it will have to do (and perhaps there are some shopping mavens and deal-conscious individuals amongst you all who can appreciate the Black Friday well-wishes, who knows). I do apologize for that, though I hope all of my fellow American followers had an enjoyable holiday yesterday all the same.

Anyhow though, sadly not much in the way of artworks this time around, though I did want to put up the one doodle I have managed to finish seeing as how I don't know when I'll be able to get my next personal projects completed and up. It's of my two favorite ponies once again... I'm not sure if Applejack lost a bet or something, or if this is just a 'what you didn't see' from The Best Night Ever but either way she doesn't look as if she's enjoying herself much, poor dear (not that Rarity is daunted either way). Unlike some of my artworks of these two this wasn't really intended as particularly shippy, though as I always like to leave room for personal interpretation people should feel free to think of it that way if they choose!

Well, hopefully the next time I update here I will be fully moved and settled into my new home, which will be a wonderful thing most definitely. Again I don't know when I'll be able to get any new personal artworks up but I do have several commissioned projects in the works, which I shall be prioritizing until I get myself caught up. So, yes, hopefully you'll all be seeing those soon enough. Until next time then dears~!

You love to keep surprising me, don't you? Because I
am absolutely dazzled. Again. Spectacular job indeed!
I tried searching for the links for brush tutorials myself
on DeviantArt, but with no success.. .could you be so
kind as to send the links to my dA account? I've
provided the address back in my comment on your October post.
Again, help here would be REALLY appreciated.
And also, good luck with the move into your new
home!

@Favo

.. =D Darling, your posts crack me up, really they do. I am so very happy that you like this picture so much... while I put time and effort into it, of course, I know it's not on par artistically-speaking with many of my other works, and sometimes I have to wonder if those of you (other than my dear DJB123 of course) grow tired of seeing so much of my two favorite ponies. But you like it regardless of these things, yay~!

And Rarijack... sometimes *I* even wonder why I like it so much, aside from the fact that I love Rarity and Applejack of course and always welcome seeing them get more attention in fanworks. Perhaps it's because sticking them together pretty much demands character growth for both of them, as well as makes for some entertaining moments since they're so different and clash so much. Ah well, who knows.

In any case yes, I did have a very good holiday and thank you for the well-wishes. I'm glad you enjoyed the picture~! ^.^/

@DJB123

Oh dearest, I am so incredibly glad to hear that you enjoyed it, really I am! It always is a wonderful feeling to know that I've cheered you up with something I've done, or at least seemingly so going by what you tell me. That's just excellent stuff.

And thank you so much for that... I've been kind of between homes for a while now and so I shall just be relieved to finally have all of this packing and moving business behind me. It definitely hasn't made my life any easier recently... I'm looking forward to be able to settle in!

Thank you so much again, I treasure your comments as always! ^.^

Oh and this is what happens when I go and make myself a cup of coffee while responding to replies... comment-ninja'd again! Sorry friends... ^.^;

@Favo

Well unfortunately no, it's not the same house that I mentioned on here some time ago. I kept meaning to update everyone on my search as some people requested it but of course, you know me and I forgot every time.

It *is* quite a nice house though, even if it doesn't have a paved courtyard with an outdoor fireplace and a balcony in my bedroom, and more than anything I'm just grateful to have somewhere to go since things were getting a little scary there for a while! Thank you so much for asking dear, I appreciate the well-wishes as well. ^_^

@CaineScroll

Oh, yes, while it probably would have occurred to me at some point tonight, I had forgotten about your post until just reading this so thank you for the reminder. I shall indeed try and find some of those tutorials I told you about and link you to them on your original inquiry... also, since I forgot to ask there do you mind telling me which program(s) you use so I have a better idea of what to look for?

Also, thank you so much for the lovely compliments; I'm happy you like the picture! =^.^=

@WhiteDiamonds

That's quite all right, even I miss out comments sometimes lol.

I currently use Photoshop CS5, I have Illustrator but I've never tried using it (ouch). Hope this helps.

And by the way, I NEVER get tired of seeing Applejack! Add that to the fact that I like country music...haha~

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

@WhiteDiamonds
Oh yeah, I'm also pretty curious about how you do those backgrounds, they look naturally beautiful...could you include those in the links as well? Thanks...=]

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@Favo

You are too sweet, thank you dear. ^_^

@CaineScroll

Ah, a fellow Applejack fan how lovely! I was already going to tell you that you were in the Awesome Club for liking Harry Potter and Final Fantasty (though it's been ages since I played/watched people play/was into those games, I still love the characters and storylines), but that just cements it for me, meehee~

And ahh Photoshop... okay. I have CS3 or 4 myself... I forget which since I don't really use it anymore, but in any case I'm afraid I'm probably not the best person to ask for advice with using that program as I'm not particularly strong with it. For that reason it makes it a little difficult to explain to you how I do my backgrounds since I don't know how one would go about getting the same look in PS. My favorite program these days, and the one with which I have done all of my pony-fanarts to date is the Japanese program PaintTool SAI, which you can download online for a two-month free trial version I believe, and which runs relatively cheap in the event that you do decide to buy it (the price varies somewhat since it's in yen, though I believe it's around $60). The English version of the site is here if you are interested.

But anyhow, yes, as I said in my other reply do let me know if you think I might be able to help you with any questions, and especially if you decide to try out SAI since I'm far more knowledgeable about that program. Thanks again!

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

@WhiteDiamonds

Oh wow. And I thought most people used Photoshop nowadays. I'll definitely give the program a shot, and see what happens from there...thanks a lot!

Off topic, as a loyal Potter fan, have you seen the house crests they designed for the Pottermore website? They look quite good in my opinion =D

I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving and are preparing to move into your new home; you must be feeling a lot more relaxed as a result.

It's great to see another of your charming drawings. Once again your expressions tell the story more elegantly than words could; I love Rarity's little smile. It is quite a coincidence that someone had a Rarity/Fluttershy drawing on this same theme make tonight's Drawfriend. Like that drawing, there's nothing in this one to indicate any sort of romantic relationship, but this scene wouldn't be out of place between a pair of lovers either if one wishes to view it through that lens. And as much as I love seeing Applejack in her usual no-nonsense ponytail, she does seem to benefit from makeovers more than the other main characters; like a lot of farm girls, when left to her own devices she downplays her natural beauty.

As for Rarijack shipping, while I'll never consider any shipping involving the mane 6 to be canon, that pairing is fun in a what-if or alternate-universe sense. As you've pointed out, their obvious differences are a great source of that appeal, but I think their similarities, with both of them being strong-willed businessmares, has something to do with it, too.

Best wishes for a smooth move, and don't forget about new pony tomorrow!

TomTheRock said... Reply to comment

love it, hope your move is as stress-free as possible.

@CaineScroll

Oh not a trouble at all; I'm glad if I'm able to be of some help! And while I can't speak for everybody, I do know that many artists have turned to SAI since it made its relatively recent debut, including that artist PurpleKecleon whose tutorial I linked you to previously (though again, she's far more proficient with it than I am. Alas~).

And you know, I actually have not seen those yet... my hectic lifestyle recently has made it difficult for me to squeeze all my happy fangeeking in, though I've been relatively successful on the pony-front at least. I shall have to check them out sometime!

@jodyjm13

Oh it is a huge relief, most definitely... it's so terrible living out of boxes and all of that you know. Being between homes as I am at the moment, I actually ended up spending my Thanksgiving at a casino because that's what my local family members are into, but it was actually surprisingly enjoyable (I'm sure the martinis didn't hurt in that respect, *ahem*)... thank you for asking and I hope yours was pleasant as well!

Haha yes, Rarity's smile... I think she's doing her best not to laugh at Applejack's obvious indignation, and of course we all know she's more than happy to get her hooves on any of her friends' manes in the off-chance they'd let her... I imagine she must be having a hard time concealing her elation for Applejack's sake. *^_^* And yes, while I obviously love and adore our dear cowpony for her no-nonsense looks and demeanor, one can't deny that she 'cleans up' most beautifully. ^_~

And Rarijack, yes... I believe you and I had a discussion about shipping in general once or twice before. I actually think I do have a pretty good idea of why I like that pairing but the fact that they're so different in so many ways is certainly a big part of it (I'd like to think it gives them the ability to bring out the best in each other I suppose). At the same time I agree with you in that they have quite a few similarities in some significant ways, which of course can be just as enjoyable/important to explore in fanworks. Good stuff~

In any case though thanks so much as always for the lovely comprehensive feedback and well-wishes... as well as for that reminder because knowing how my mind has been lately, there is a very good chance I might have forgotten about the new episode! It's a good thing I have so many of you to help bring me back down to earth, I suppose... ^.^; Thank you everyone.

@TomTheRock

Ahhh thank you, thank you! Really, as much as I hate moving at this point I just want to dive on in, get it DONE and put the whole nasty affair behind me; I'm so tired of living in clutter and disarray, hwah! Really this sort of lifestyle doesn't agree with me at all... it's hard enough for me to get my head and work and everything else together even when things are nice and organized as I like them. It will be a huge relief.

And thank you so much, I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it! =^.^=

@WhiteDiamonds

Just visited PK's dA page, now I'm watching her... I do admit her coloring skills are more refined than yours, but honestly, trying to reach that caliber of art for a starter like me could take years. Besides, your pieces are more on the 2-D side, which I'm more familiar with. So I'll try to get a drift of your style first before I tackle more advanced ones...learn how to walk before you can run, right?
I still haven't acquired the tablet yet, so work may be delayed for some time. Furthermore, I'm working on another mlp-ff crossover (with an ACTUAL background, imagine that =D), which should be finished by the time I get the tablet anyway. I'll inform you first thing when I'm done, and I'm looking forward to your expert opinion, if you'd be kind enough to offer some.

Cheers!

Rarimi said... Reply to comment

I think I just found a new favorite drawing of yours of Rarity and Applejack! Maybe they were playing truth or dare again and Rarity decided to give her touch to Applejack's hair? It's the first thing that came to my mind after seeing this picture and judging by the looks of Applejack, she is even happy Rarity is doing it for her!

Way to make a farm pony look fabulous WD, great work as always!

Sigh... Ever time you post a new picture I get a little more jealous.

I love the detail and shading you give manes, they really seem to have some depth to them.

Thanks for making me smile after getting my wisdom teeth removed. Protip: Don't get you wisdom teeth removed.

Also, the newest episode was pretty lame.

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@CaineScroll

Oh heavens, yes... comparing my fanart (or at least insofar as my ponyworks I have posted here) with hers is like comparing Apples to Manehattanite Oranges, I'm afraid. I've known the girl online for about 8 years now I believe, and despite the fact that we're almost a decade apart in age she has always been at least one step ahead of me when it comes to digital art, there's no denying it. But that's okay; at least it gives me something to aspire to right?

And congratulations, hope you find it to your liking then! ^_^ I know what you mean about the lack of a tablet, as I made do without one until about this time last year, but it *is* quite possible to create fabulous digital art without one. The main thing you're missing out on of course is pressure sensitivity, but with enough patience and clever use of blending and layers, it's possible to replicate the effect well enough.

In any case, happy painting... do let me know if you have any questions you think I can help you with!

@Rarimi

Oh, well, I happen to think darling Applejack is fabulous just as she is, but I suppose there's no denying she glams up nicely. And while I'm not sure if she is exactly "happy", at least she's taking it like a mare and letting Rarity have her fun I suppose.

Anyway though, thank you so much my dear! I am happy you enjoyed the picture! ^.^

@Forderz

For better or for worse, I have already been there, done that as far as wisdom teeth go, though I agree it was not a pleasant experience. At least my face didn't get swollen, I just bled for three days straight I think... *shudder* Eww, unpleasant memories..!

And darling, please don't be jealous... my skills aren't so extraordinary that most artistically-minded people couldn't achieve them with enough practice I think. Or at least that's the attitude I always try to have when I find myself feeling unworthy compared with others' skills (see my response to CaineScroll above). No matter what avenue one pursues in life, there will always be at least one person who has superior skills or talents... I suppose that's why I always do my best to help others achieve growth when I can. All we can do is give it our best, after all!

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

@WhiteDiamonds

Thank you kindly for the uplifting advice; you certainly have a knack for motivational speaking as well, even if you don't consider it a profession. It's a hugely relieving thought that I'm not alone in this particular learning process, after all^^!

As I have pointed out to Favo previously, I have tried SAI out a bit. It's completely alien to me right now, but I'm confident I can get the hang of it sooner or later. I'm looking forward to further experimenting and (of course) my first piece. I'll keep you posted!

Many thanks again, and (suddenly hit me that I've never really said this here, oops) Happy Thanksgiving!

Frankensteinbeck said... Reply to comment

I have stared, and thought, and now I see this clearly from the Rarijack perspective. This is Rarity's Hearth Warming Eve present. Applejack asked what she wanted, and Rarity wanted to give her a makeover. And in about three hours, Applejack will be elegant and femininely lovely in a way neither of them ever knew she could be, and they'll both stand there blushing furiously for the next hour after that.

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@CaineScroll

Oh not a trouble at all; I'm happy if I'm able to help at all! And indeed, you are not alone... I'd like to think that any artist who is worth their salt is continually trying to improve their technique and better themselves in their craft.

And yes, I remember how SAI was an interesting experiment for me after having used Photoshop for so long, as well, but I was in love almost from the beginning. I absolutely adored the way you can mess with textures for each and every tool to replicate paper, canvas, and so on... it's just de-lovely~

Like I said, let me know how it goes for you, and I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving as well! ^_^

@Frankensteinbeck

... Why do you have to do that to my faint and fluttering heart every time. You are a fiend I hope you know; a fabulous fiend I adore and whose comments I savor to the very last drop, but a fiend none the less!!

Now I REALLY want to go and doodle some more fanart, hrrgh~ *chugs coffee*

Frankensteinbeck said... Reply to comment

@Rar- I mean, WhiteDiamonds:
And then while they're staring at each other, Rarity asks what Applejack wants for HER present. Applejack sputters, and Rarity kisses her in a thoroughly tongue-tieing way and asks 'Did you enjoy my present as much as I enjoyed yours?' To which Applejack replies, 'Ah think ah hear my apple peeler calling me!'

Then for the next two or three days Applejack pretends VERY HARD that didn't happen, and Rarity smirks a lot.

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@Frankensteinbeck

I swear to Goddess there must be something wrong with me... I'm sitting here blushing like a silly high school girl. I catch enough flak from people for gluing myself to my silly soap opera every week (Billy and Victoria just got back together again, joy and raptuuure~! <3 <3), and now I'm turning into the biggest blushing kind of pony-shipper there is. I am... ashamed at myself..! *sniffle*

It's a good thing I thought better of hooking up my webcam to this blog when I originally started posting (because the idea had crossed my mind, you know); at least it's something of a relief knowing you all aren't watching me giggle myself into a hiccuping fit.

Forderz said... Reply to comment

Congratulations on getting that coveted top spot in the drawfriend!

And WD, don't feel bad about having emotional reactions to nice things. I watched a dude talk about how awesome Up (the pixar film) was today and started bawling. All he was doing was talking about it!

Ponies have changed me.

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@sellyme

Yes, I am not going to lie that one certainly caught me by surprise! I knew something had to be up when my pageviews suddenly jumped so drastically. But in all honestly, I really think it's more of a question of random chance which image Seth tacks up there to act as a header, and especially considering some of the fabulous things that were in this evening's Drawfriend. Because after all, my composing Octavia, 30s Rarity, and Rarity wearing Applejack's hat never garnered that position, and I don't think anyone can argue they were artistically inferior to this particular drawing of mine.

But anyway, I do of course appreciate the support... thank you for that. And if you have not yet checked out PurpleKecleon's deviantArt page, I strongly encourage you to do so! You'll see exactly what I'm talking about at first glance. ^_~

@BND

Oh, yes, that 24-hour livestream that Speccysy was doing; I read about that in the previous Nightly Roundup and was thoroughly impressed! That really takes some impressive stamina, as well as time I don't believe I'll ever have, but I digress.

Thank you so much, my dear, I'm so happy you enjoyed this one, and to think that it might just be your favorite so far is fantastic! ^.^ I did indeed have a pleasant Thanksgiving so thank you for that... hope yours was enjoyable as well!

@Forderz

Yes I'm still not quite sure how that happened, but however it was thank you very much for that!

And well, yes... I don't know how bad I feel when I really think about it I guess, but it is somewhat pitiful how I've become even more of a sappy romantic as time has gone on. I mean, I've always been that way to an extent but it just seems to be getting worse the older I get... I never would have imagined I'd be one to ship cartoon ponies for example but there you are!

Not that Frankensteinbeck has helped me in that regard whatsoever, I'm afraid to say... I do believe his delightful, horribly teasing snippets have made me more of a Rarijack fan than I ever was before! Waaah. TT_TT

BND said... Reply to comment

@WhiteDiamonds Yes, it does take incredible amounts of stamina, considering I was there for pretty much the entire thing. XP
Sleeping from noon to 7 pm really is something in and of itself.

Yes, I had a rather good Thanksgiving; A nice relaxing day with my family. :)
And I daresay, your art may very well be making me become more receptive to Rarijack as a pairing. ;P

Tokenekie said... Reply to comment

Poor Applejack must be recalling her terribly posh memories of Manehattan with that utterly faaaancy hairdo of hers xD.

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

@WhiteDiamonds

Congratulations on the new drawfriend feature, I'd be lying if I said you didn't deserve it.

And also, it's not always necessary to compare your own art. Occasionally it's good to have a little constructive criticism, but generally none of your works are inferior, even when they're put side by side. Personally, I see beauty in the simplest things--chief among them, one of the many Applejacks you did back in September (or was it October?) It was drawn in a more scrawny manner, if I recall, but I found it rather delightful because I like to associate it with a sort of natural-hand style as opposed to the more complex stuff. Whether it was intended or not, we'll never know (the viewers, anyway), but it's a bit more satisfying to call it "less amazing" rather than "more inferior". For me, I enjoy every one of your works as an individual, not for comparison, because to me every piece has a spark that makes it what it is. At least, that's my philosophy.

Once again, congratulations on the drawfriend feature, and I look forward to seeing the next big thing from you=D!

BossCrab said... Reply to comment

ahh WD you're scratching an itch I didn't even know I had months ago with these kinds of drawings! Dear me, I love these two more as time goes on, thanks in no small part to your art. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't really enjoy it!

As usual I love the way you draw ponies, the subtlety of Rarity's grin and Applejack's blush (you're betraying how you 'really' feel AJ!) work so well here. I can't tell whether I like it more as a before-the-Gala picture or as something different like in Frankenstein's writing, but either works well! (No really Frankensteinbeck I'm gushing over here about that little snippet).

In addition, the manes in particular shine in this drawing, I love the way they're drawn and colored them here (I absolutely adore your coloring and shading in general!).

Keep an eye on your email in the next few days, I came into a little money recently if you catch my drift!

Either way, I wish you all the best in your move. It's a big deal for any person, but I'm sure you'll enjoy your new home and feel awesome once you get settled in. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving too!

I really love the way you styled AJ's mane; it reminds me of something.

Do you have a dA account? I'd like to /watch you there; it'd make it a bit easier for me. I check my dA watches a lot more than blogger or google reader.
I'm sorry if this was already asked; I don't really want to dig through many many pages of comments. Sorry for my laziness there, too :(

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@BND

I used to pull some crazy hours back in the day when I worked as a barista, and had to be at work at 4 in the morning (I'd usually get off around noon, and somehow would fall into an instantaneous nap the moment I got home and in spite of the six espresso shots I had just previously drank). It was not an easy lifestyle by any means.

But anyhow, I'm glad you had a pleasant Thanksgiving, and mine was nice as well thank you for asking (as I told jodyjm13 above it was essentially spent at a casino, but was surprisingly enjoyable).

And really now! Now that comment surprises me, I have to say! After all you seem to be quite devoted to your Rarishy OTP so if my artwork is beginning to sway you even a little (even including pieces like the above which are not strictly shippy, and not to mention the fact that was never my intent to begin with!) I guess I must be doing something right! Maybe my pictures really are as especially charming as you all keep telling me, ha... ^.^;

Heh, anyway though. Thank you again my dear for the lovely comments; I always look forward to them!

@Tokenekie

Exactly! ^.^

Poor Applejack... she's just so lovable though that I confess I have a hard time not enjoying seeing her stuck in these sorts of situations, haha... it's just far too entertaining. *^.^* At least Rarity seems to be having enough fun for the both of them though!

@CaineScroll

Thank you so much my dear! I'm still not quite sure how that happened but rock on, I suppose!

And I suppose you present a valid point... for example, I know when I browse through a new edition of Drawfriend it is sometimes the simplest and silliest pictures which appeal to me most, even if I feel more respect and wonder for some of the more "refined" works. I guess I was just trying to say that, speaking from a technically-artistic point of view, my cute Applejack/Rarity picture above is really not anything too impressive and even when compared to other things I've done. But you are right.

Anyway though thank you for that, and hope it's going well with SAI!

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

(I seriously wrote so much I had to split up my replies again, it is madness I tell you~)

@BossCrab

=D I think all the Rarijack enthusiasts in the fandom are slowly but surely finding their way to my blog, seeing as how I draw so much of each of these two both together (in both shippy and non-shippy contexts) and apart... at least I know *I'd* keep an eye on a blog like that if I ever found one! I so never intended that to be a draw when I started this blog up (not that I ever imagined it would take off to the extent it has anyhow, mind you), but that rather seems to be the case... I find that hilarious honestly.

And Frankensteinbeck, yes... he does seem to enjoy teasing me. Not that I mind so very much... *ahem*

It truly will be a relief to have this whole dratted moving affair behind me, as I've said before... I hate living in and around and out of boxes, feh. As far as the email goes, dear, I am certainly in no rush, though feel free to message me whenever you like of course. Depending on things it might be a while before we could work something out, given the especially busy nature of my life recently but again, please do feel free to note me whenever.

Anyway though, thank you so much as always for your lovely feedback dear, and I'm so glad you liked the pictures, pony-manes and all! ^.^ And yes I did have a pleasant Thanksgiving; thank you for asking!

@Buck

Oh no not at all; it's very kind of you to send even your belated holiday wishes, thank you (and for the moving well-wishes as well!)! I hope yours was pleasant in turn!

And heehee, do I do that really? =^.^= Well thank you for the very lovely sentiments! Rarijack or no (and to think I originally thought I would get flak for liking/drawing that pairing), it's very kind of you and I'm so happy you like my fanarts... I couldn't ask for anything more really considering I already get so much enjoyment out of making them. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, I really do appreciate it!

@watashig

Thank you very much! Perhaps you're simply reminded of her manestyle in The Best Night Ever, since that's pretty much where I borrowed the look from (or at least the front as the back is not yet braided, though I expect that's what Rarity is about to get started on in the picture). Applejack definitely wore the look beautifully in that episode.

And haha no need to apologize dear... in answer to your questions it has already been asked (worry not, I would never expect you to dig through my each and every post anyway), and no, for better or for worse I do not currently have a deviantART account. I used to, long before I got into doing pony-fanart, and in response to popular demand I've considered making one again, though if this was ever the case it wouldn't be any time too soon as this humble little blog of mine already keeps me busier than I can sometimes handle. Eventually though, I likely will. In the event that I do you can be sure I will post an announcement and link for you all here. ^_^

Thank you so much for your interest in my work and for taking the time to comment as well; I very much appreciate it!

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

And while it doesn't really have anything to do with anything else, I honestly just finished eating what was my third apple of the day. I expect Applejack would be proud of me.

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

Thanks for asking! I'm happy to report that things at SAI are going as expected (ugly). Took a leaf out of purplekecleon's book and attempted one speedpaint, albeit without the vaporeon. Feel free to check it out on my dA page, even though it's a completely mediocre piece^^

By the way, could you give me your email? It's much better to give regular reports that way instead of flooding the comments section. If you do agree, however, I'll try to figure out a way to get it without actually revealing it online...I'm a sucker for internet security =o

I... ack!! What are you talking about you silly goober; I went and checked and that is exceptionally well-done, especially considering it was your first effort with the program and you did it without a tablet! In fact, that having been said I'm honestly very impressed you were able to achieve such subtle blending your very first attempt... nice.

So yes, I really think you're doing quite fabulously, just keep at it! You can only get even better with practice. And yes, as far as my email goes Favo has already handled that quite nicely (he frequently seems to have my back; he's a dear)... in this case internet security isn't really a concern of mine because I've already given out that address multiple times all over this blog to people expressing interest in commissions and whatnot... it's all good.

By the way, nice new avatar you are sporting there. ^.^

@Favo

Oh, really? I had no idea I had inspired you to take up digital painting my dear, that's so lovely! If you've been creating art you really must show me what you've done sometime, I'd love to see it!

And haha *I* don't even read all that much Rarijack, but that's probably more because I don't really have the time to... *bricked*

@WhiteDiamonds

Thanks for the compliments, haha~ I didn't really think it would impress *anyone* let alone you...but I do appreciate the praise.

The outcome of that praise? Well...I'm going to attempt a pony. Without a tablet. Again, it won't be a really serious piece of art, just giving myself another pop quiz in a way...wish me luck!

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

@Favo

I really do appreciate the favour, and I hope you get a grasp of drawing without paper (it's a really fumbling process, I started using Photoshop only last year =D). I reckon you'll get your tablet before I do, though, and I hope you'll share some of the experience with those who're curious (cough me cough), so they can get a little taster, at the least.

Simply put, thanks again and happy drawing!

"Slowly raises a hoof from the background of the crowd..."

Well, I must admit, while MLP has certainly been a life stabilizing experience, it was your fan art, and especially your recent doodle round-up, that inspired me to pick up a sketch pad and pencil for the first time. I always have wanted to draw, but never really found the inspiration until now and would always default to less gratifying hobbies. Granted, my initial few attempts merely resulted in the paper self-immolating to spare the world the horror of seeing it. But, I've gotten to the point where one can now recognize an endeavor at quadrupedal design.

I haven't picked up my bass guitar (a fruitless hobby of 16 years) in close to a month now, and couldn't be happier. Not only have you become a fan artist that's captured the eye of EQD's Seth, but it would appear that you're gradually beginning to inspire a growing number of people, myself included. That makes me smile.

And speaking of ponies creeping into our sub-consciousness, I spotted some apples called 'Royal Gala' during my last grocery run and immediately had to buy a handful. Comically, they were nowhere near as Grand as I thought they would be...

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@Favo

Ah, well, yes, I suppose it does. ^.^;

And dearest there is no reason to think you would disappoint me... it's too bad to hear that you're stuck trying to do your digital artwork with a mouse but I know I made do with that system for the longest time. It's good to know you'll be getting your tablet soon enough though! I am excited to hear that you're drawing in any case; that's a wonderful thing! Someday, when you're willing to share you will have to show me some of your works... I'd love to see them!

And eee, no, sad stories! Sad fanfiction stories almost always make me sad, and if it was about Applejack and Rarity it would probably be even worse. ;_; I'm trying to think how many Rarijack stories I've actually read and it's probably like four total... I read one on EqD once when I first joined the fandom that I think is what turned me to begin with(oh yay, I have somebody to blame now that I think about it! That's a relief), which also prompted me to look for more but they weren't particularly great from what I remember. ^.^; Shipping stories seldom are in my experience. And then I read one a couple weeks ago because it was also posted on EqD and the author used my fanart for a header image, and that one was actually rather good. Erm, but anyway...

Sorry it's taken so terribly long for me to get back to you dear. Have I mentioned before that I really hate moving?

@CaineScroll

Oh no, not at all it really was quite good, and especially considering the mental image I'd built up after you downplayed it so much! I certainly do wish you luck, even though at this point your latest work is probably already up on your dA... I'll have to check later on when I get home (I'm on my way to work soon and honestly am probably pushing it by being on here even now, it's just that I've been SO terribly busy I've been neglecting all of my online duties and wanted to catch up at least somewhat). Hopefully it's going well though!

@Cinnamon Fritter

This... has to be the greatest comment ever, seriously. I remember you left me a gorgeous post on my Octavia piece back when I put that one up as well, but if anything I think this is even better... I'm really quite touched by it.

I know I've said on here before, and especially when I first started putting up my pony-arts, that to be able to bring people enjoyment and happiness with my work was probably the greatest thing ever. But honestly, if there's something even better than that it would have to be the ability to INSPIRE people! I can't think of a more wonderful gift for any artist than to know that their work has filled people with the desire to create their own works and want to share them with the world, and it's kind of hard for me to believe that something as simple as these cartoon doodles I put up has seemingly done that. But, it is a wonderful thing nevertheless, thank you SO very much!

You'll have to let me know how it goes for you, most definitely. And if you think I can be of any assistance to you at all, please don't hesitate to ask! ^.^ Happy drawing!

Oh, and yes, I almost forgot, I actually am quite fond of Gala apples myself (they're one of my favorites, though I'm not sure if they're the Royal Gala that I am thinking of... probably not as I think I'd remember that). Fuji apples too... so incredibly delicious.

I seriously love apples. <3 Heehee~

@WhiteDiamonds

Now I realize just how important pen pressure can be...it's hard to achieve that hard-soft texture when you're using a mouse. The lines are a little shaky but they might pass for smooth when you look at it from a distance. That said, my project is going quite well (I just LOVE SAI's ability to rotate the picture like you would do actual paper^^). Once I'm done, I'll post the picture on my (currently empty) blog and my dA page, provided I don't screw it up somehow ~

As for sadfics, I do enjoy a good one wherever it pops up. I can't seem to cry to them however, maybe because I've never really cried much... Not to say I wasn't moved though.

By the way, I heard from some friends of mine that it's quite hard to get used to using a tablet...what was your experience on that matter? I'd like to get a grip of the concept so I don't freak out trying to use it or something. I'm sure Favo would appreciate it, too =)

@Favo
Thanks a lot! I'm not really a gamer person, because I know some games can be particularly addictive. However,I DO have a large supply of pencils so I can doodle just about anywhere at any time (even during classes, bad habit).

As for drawing with a mouse, it's hard if you're attempting brush paintings due to the lack of pen pressure (as mentioned above). But if you're doing vectors, it's easy thanks to Photoshop's pen tool.

I'd love to see some of your doodles, though. After having drawn pencil art for approximately a decade, maybe I could give a tip or two! =D

Oh my Goddess. I don't care if I should be cleaning and finishing my last-minute packing right now; I had such a dreadfully horrid day at work that I'm going to be awful and reply to my comments while eating a gigantic, carb-tastic bowl of pasta at nearly midnight. And I am going to enjoy it so YAY.

@Favo

Darling, you don't have to explain all that to me... I am exactly the same way which is why I was originally so hesitant to share my pony-fanarts online, and more recently, my sketches when you and Jody asked to see them. I very much care about the quality of my work and how it reflects upon me. As it is, and I know I have said this before, it has taken me a long time and a good deal of coaxing to get to the point where I can feel satisfied with quick and simple pictures that I haven't spent days and days working on. So yes, I can relate.

And oh, yes, you know I do believe I did comment on two different Rarijack stories before... those were the two that I mentioned reading on EqD and actually liked! One was the recent one I mentioned that used my fanart, and the other was the first one I ever read when I was brand-new to that site. That was the one that had me try out a couple other stories though I ended up not caring for them much... I don't remember the name of it but it was pretty well-written and a nice, drawn-out story which I prefer.

As far as Swayback Mountain, I'm pretty sure I've heard of it though I've never read it. If I have time and ever stumble across it I suppose I'll have to give it a try (and now, being in the mood that I am that author's name just makes me crave Ben & Jerry's, urghh..).

And yes, I think I've mentioned it before but it is apparently very easy to make me cry... just show me a touching movie and chances are you will have tears. I remember the very first time I ever saw Stepmom, I was seriously curled up on the bed with a box of tissues sobbing; it was so pathetic...

@CaineScroll

Omigosh yes, I absolutely adore SAI's canvas-rotate feature... SO much more convenient than Photoshop's arbitrary thing. That's one more reason that I prefer using that program these days, must say. ^.^

And unfortunately, yes, pen pressure really is an immensely important factor when it comes to creating digital art; there's no denying or sugarcoating it really. It is true that it's possible to create good works without it (I know I've certainly seen many in my time), but to recreate certain looks or styles it's difficult if not nearly impossible. I have faith in your abilities though and am glad it's going smoothly enough so far; you'll have to let me know when you get your latest endeavor up and posted.

And the very first time I ever used a tablet... it was with my friend's laptop, in Corel Painter I believe. I tried using it and honestly achieved little more than a bunch of aimless scribbling, and while he said I could again another time, he ended up moving to Florida and so it wasn't until three or four years later that I tried again when I bought my own (current) tablet. And that time, for whatever reason and despite the fact I hadn't attempted it since my first try, I took to it naturally and experienced no difficulties at all... I can't explain how or why it worked out that way honestly.

It's really not all that difficult though, and I suppose the best (and indeed, probably only) way to get comfortable with one is just to practice. Hopefully you'll be able to give it a shot soon enough!

CaineScroll said... Reply to comment

@WhiteDiamonds

Finally got SOMETHING on my blog! It's not the one I'm working on with SAI, mind you, this is 100% Photoshop. And 100% non-tablet, I'm happy to report. Check it out here.

As for the SAI project...=S I finally cracked, I'm afraid. I had to use Photoshop for the lines because of the aforementioned pen pressure issue. But I'm still going to use SAI for the painting =D

Hey man, it feels good to cry once and a while. When my uncle died, I know for sure I wouldn't of trusted myself enough to cry if I hadn't discovered ponies. And not caring who sees you letting out whatever you've been bottling up is a good thing.

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@CaineScroll

Yes I just went to check it out and I left you a comment in turn; it is indeed a lovely piece of work! I told you that you are really quite capable already. ^.^

And I can certainly see why you would select to do that... Photoshop does have a great Pen tool that's simple to use effectively with a tablet. I know SAI has some kind of Pen tool also but I've never really tried messing with it so I don't know if it's any different... I guess I should make a point to try it one of these days.

Anyway though, kudos on your latest artwork! As I said I very much look forward to seeing your newest when you get it finished. ^.^

@Favo

Ahh I so love ice cream... it is probably my very favorite food in the world.. **guilty* At this point in my life I have learned not to even keep it in the house so that I have to get up and drive to a parlor whenever I really want some, otherwise I will probably just eat it until it is gone! So so bad...

And dearie you never need worry about feeling like you are rambling... if anything that is probably encouraged here. And you're right in that it's really not a bad thing about crying easily; I don't know if I've always been quite so emotional but I certainly have become moreso the older I've gotten.

Sixteen! You are just so incredibly young, squee! <3 You'll have to forgive me; I don't mean to embarrass you or sound like I'm patronizing at all, it's just you're nearly half my age and yet we can talk about ponies together... I just find that lovely is all. =^.^=

@Forderz

Yes, you're right; sometimes it really can be a relief. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, and perhaps that's why I weep so easily these days... Goddess knows I've been to more than enough funerals in my 30 years to last a lifetime. Life really is too short and is very precious, and perhaps that's why I tear up easily as things seem to constantly be reminding me of that fact.

@WhiteDiamonds

Thanks for being a loyal supporter! I'm happy to report that the initial colouring is nearly done, and the eyes are fully complete. Still won't reveal the identity of the pony I'm working on in case things go south, but I don't think that'll happen anytime soon. Yay~

Keep looking out for me!

@Favo

Sixteen? We're almost in the same boat, mate. I turn eighteen next June =D!

I know I'm not exactly a part of this part of the conversation, but I think it's a good thing you can actually cry during a sad moment. After all, you're still human. A punk enjoying, pony loving human, but still. And humans have feelings. It's perfectly natural to let those negative emotions out, and those who never cry need to get examined by the blokes in hazmat suits. I myself have cried due to various reasons: disappointment, grief, sadness, betrayal (imagine the whole class pushing you out to a contest you didn't sign up for, and none of your friends had your back. That was harsh). I don't regret it. And I'm glad the ponies helped you rediscover your ability to cry, because that is something to be proud of.

Well, I have been checking this blog for a while now (Another Rarity fan here), but since we seem to be pretty off-topic right now, I guess this would be the best time to make an account and leave a comment. It's nice to see that rambling is encouraged, because I have a lot to cover now.

I started following this blog ever since I saw your Octavia art. It is the best Pony fanart, and you are the best Pony fanartist, I have ever seen. I would go into more detail, but everyone else here have said it well. I have no background in paper or digital artwork, but I was instantly inspired to try it. I went so far as downloading Paint Tool Sai, before suddenly remembering that tablets exist. I'm sixteen as well, and I don't have a job or any access to an artist's tablet. Even if I did, I couldn't let my parents know that I want one for the sole purpose of drawing My Little Pony fanart. I tried using the program with the mouse, and I'm sure I wasn't doing it right, but one look at the shaky pencil lines ensured to me that it was just never going to happen. Even so, I think it might be interesting if you showed the process you go through to create these, for the sake of real aspiring artists. I know how busy you are, but in case you're interested, it could serve as a helpful resource for the whole MLP fanart community. Just as a thought.

To keep to the topic a little, I tend to avoid sadfics altogether. If I read something, it is most likely to be a Comedy or Adventure. Yep. I'm not sure how much they affect me, probably due to how to how dramatically emotions change when reading a story, but most of them these days tend to be about the mane six getting older, moving away and dying. You can only read so many of those.

CaineScroll, when you suggested that your creation was badly made, I was expecting something much different. Seeing you accomplished artists call these things "quick doodles" makes me wonder where that leaves me. The best thing I could make would be a distorted smiley face. And it would probably be plagiarized.

Oh, and my display name is obviously short for "Anonymous", since I couldn't think of a good name to use. I'm pretty picky about the name I'm represented by. I'll probably make another account sooner or later, though, since naming yourself "Anonymous" is like showing up at a costume party wearing a shirt that says "Costume".

tl;dr: WhiteDiamonds confirmed for best pony.

@Favo The Offspring are still relevant? I remember them being hot in... '95?

Shows what I know.

And holy cow did Sweet and Elite deliver. This struck down Sisterhooves Social as my favourite episode of s2, and its hard to tell if Suited for Success is still on top. And those outfits Rarity puts herself in? Amazing. French Artist Rarity is best Rarity.

That's a lie; Wet Hair Rarity is still best Rarity.

Hehe, we all have our complaints about school, one way or another! I've seen that happen in my own school, though it's more between the students and teachers instead of the administration...anyway, there's no need to feel sorry because that was, er, almost for years ago. I'm good, but thanks for the concern mate, I do appreciate it!

Off topic, how's you're art going? I certainly hope you're coping well without a tablet. Do let us know if there's anything we can help with! =D

@Anon

Haha, thanks mate. Wasn't really expecting that!

The thing about artists (well, most of them) is that we have a habit of degrading our art. I myself have seen WD do that. In my case it's due to worrying about what others might think of it. I mentioned in my dA page that the picture was merely a self test, but serious art. After all, it was only my first try with SAI, and people are usually insecure when they do something for the first time. But I should probably take a taste of my own medicine (check comments above) and call it "less beautiful" instead of "ugly". Sorry 'bout that! =P

You say you're sixteen? In that case, don't worry about not bring able to draw. There still plenty of opportunities to learn. My best friend, for one, had trouble with that as well (his first attempt at a boy reminded me of an extraterrestrial =S) but after one year of practice eventually put him in the right track. It's not about the natural ability to draw; it's the determination that's important, and also the most productive.

That being said, I wish you all the best and hopefully you can share something with the rest of us in the near future! ^.^

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@CaineScroll

I will indeed, and especially since you now have me wondering just who it is that you are working on. Which perhaps was an intentional brilliant strategy. ;)

@Favo

Hmm I like all sorts of music honestly, and I guess the real answer depends on my mood and what it is I happen to be doing at any given moment. When I am drawing or sewing I do prefer to listen to more classical music or intrumental pieces, as I find they seem to get the proper creative juices flowing. Mozart is a favorite of mine as well as more modern artists like Gershwin, and I also LOVE musical theatre and own several different Andrew Lloyd Weber Broadway recordings. I also like opera; honestly if I was not inclined to the visual arts I would have loved to have been born an opera singer!

I also like a lot of dance/electronica and modern pop music, for which you can credit my older brother as he raised me in large part (despite the fact that he is definitely gay I think he would marry Madonna in a heartbeat if given half the chance--he has to be one of her biggest fans). Eighties pop/rock (happy nostalgia for me), various world music, old big band/jazz standards stuff, ethereal weird stuff like Enya when I'm in the right mood, soft rock like Stevie Nicks... I really like a lot of various things, it just depends on the moment.

@Anon

*blushes* Best pony, me? Oh my, that's certainly very kind of you to say, thank you! =^.^= I only hope I can live up to the title!

And well, first off I would like to welcome you to my humble little blog at last and to say thank you so very much for all the generous compliments! You really are far too kind. I'm happy to hear that you enjoy my work and to hear that I've inspired you at all (and as I somewhat touched on in my other post as well) is immensely flattering to me; there really is no greater compliment I don't think. Secondly, you pose a very interesting idea with the mention of doing a sort of tutorial on my pony-fanarts for other aspiring artists who might be interested... I can't say the idea has ever occurred to me before and despite the fact that I am frequently asked about my methods. You're right in that I really am terribly busy most of the time, but perhaps someday I'd be able to do something like that... it's something to think about anyway.

And yes, I suppose you're right in that most sadfics to tend to follow the same sort of themes which you mentioned, and which are all things that I don't normally prefer to associate with my cute little ponies (it's bad enough that I have to deal with such things in my real life is my thinking I guess... I enjoy watching ponies because they are often a welcome escape from my less cheerful, saturated existence!). Hence the reason that, like you, most of the fics that I have actually read and liked were either comedy, adventure, and/or the occasional ship-fic. What can I say; I am a hopeless romantic as I have stated before, even if they are just animated ponies.

But anyhow. I'm happy that you decided to create an account and posted to share your thoughts, and I very much look forward to reading you future commentary if you see fit to leave some. Thanks so much again for the great reply~! ^.^

Heehee well, thank you for that at least. From the time I was very young my mother has told me I should be/should have been an actress because I have a love of the dramatic, but I suppose my passion for creating things and bringing ideas and designs to life in a more tangible way just calls to me more strongly. But I do adore the theatre and the performing arts, most definitely!

And well, as I said you can really blame my brother for that... he brainwashed me with his pop/dance/electronica music tastes from the time I was a small child I guess. Some of it I like more than others, and I find it's best to listen to when doing something like household cleaning, but yes I have a certain bizarre fondness for it that I really can't deny.

When it comes to music, nobody could care less about each other's musical interests. As far as I'm concerned, the only music I've seen my (ahem) friends like as a whole are their own war chants when they try to destroy somebody's crotch or "aruba" (It's a Japanese high school hazing thing---don't ask)

Personally, I like classical music too, but I've never really got in touch with old-timers like Beethoven or Mozart much. I began to take an interest in country music after taking in some Keith Urban while I was on a road trip a few years back. And guess what? He's Aussie.

I don't really attract crowds when it comes to singing, and my piano skills are okay, I guess. But I'm more of a visual artist myself, i.e. drawing, sketching, very occasional songwriting. I may not be the brightest lightbulb around, but I'm happy of what I'm capable of.

Also, I'd like to thank you guys for leaving a comment on my blog. It really means a lot! ^.^

Opera Singer WhiteDiamonds cannot replace the well-established Rarity WhiteDiamonds image. I don't think I've ever seen someone speak and act so much like Rarity before. Honestly, at first I thought she was putting it on just to be more interesting. I've come to like it, though.

I also like a bit of every genre, with the exception of rap, screamo and very hard rock. I tend to only like one or two songs by a group, so I can only put very little emphasis on any favored bands that I could name. Equestria Daily got me into the electronic type music that they feature. I listen to it while I browse the drawfriends and read the comics. I guess I would listen to specific types of music for certain situations if I could remember them long enough.

I admit, whenever I did one of those pseudo-scientific vocational tests (like Holland codes), "Actor" was almost always on my list. That's an interesting thought; Forget law school, I'm going to be Michael J. Fox. Moving to California wouldn't hurt if I want to get into that general industry, anyway.

By the way; You can imagine my surprise when one of these type of commercials came on TV yesterday. Classy.

Oh, my! o.O

@CaineScroll

Ah, yes... while I am no authority on Japanese culture, I know quite enough to refrain from asking for any further elaboration.

And oh no, I hope you didn't interpret my saying that I'd love to be an opera singer as meaning that I'm any sort of talented vocalist, my dear... far from it. Or well, my mother seems to feel I have a pretty decent voice (and she did have a recording contract when she was younger, though she's still my mother so I'm sure she's biased despite this) but still... it's certainly not anything I could make a career out of I don't think. Too bad.

Please don't feel the need to thank me for that dear, as obviously you've always been very supportive to me on my own blog. It's my pleasure and the least I can do, really!

@Anon

People keep mentioning that about me sounding like Rarity (and despite the fact that nobody here has ever actually heard me speak, though I expect you're referring to my manner of speaking), and I find it rather amusing. Are you sure it's not just the avatar and the fact that I'm a (seemingly rare female pony-) artist who also happens to sew? ^_~

If you ever do decide to visit California dear, you'll have to let me know. We could meet for coffee or fro-yo or something (I do so love my fro-yo--trendy and delicious!).

And ah yes, if it isn't my namesake! Or one of them anyway. I've said it before but I shall say it again: I'm always surprised by the number of people on the internet who still assume me to be male and despite my username referencing such a "girly" gemstone as well as a well-known Elizabeth Taylor fragrance... oh well go figure.

Anonymous said... Reply to comment

It's never too late to learn. Maybe when your Rarity fanart winds up in museums in France, you'll be able to take a class...

@WhiteDiamonds

More than anything, it's your word choice and sentence structure. If I didn't know any better, I would be sure that you were from England. I have never seen anyone else on EQD make use of words like "darling", "lovely" or "dear". If Hasbro made an official "Ask Rarity" column on their website, she would write like that. I absolutely read your text in Rarity's voice. I know it sounds strange for a straight teenage boy to say it, but I have considerable respect for that sort of subculture. My mother is about halfway there. You probably can't tell, but I'm a bit closer to it than the people around me, and I can only wish that I was closer. The politeness, sophistication and continued effort to treat others as you wish to be treated is much more favorable than these kids that don't use the word "an" and can't come up with a sentence without cursing.

It goes farther than that, though. What sets you apart from the other artists (Aside from quality of work) is your gracious appreciation of the praise that you gather. Leaving a comment here feels worth it because you always get back more than you gave. So many artists on DeviantArt will respond to every comment with some variation of "Thanks". Of course, one comment is all anyone gives before leaving. But you are a personality, and it is no wonder why your welcoming manner brings us all to this one blog. It isn't just about the art, but the person behind it as well. It is for that reason that we actually care what your cat's name is or how moving is going. They put people like you on TV.

We'll have to give it a few more years, and plenty of creative excuses and lies before I could go to a place like California...It really is the best place for opportunities in the creative industry. And that's if the recession is over and we aren't worrying about how we'll pay for food...but that isn't a great topic to get into.

Maybe the blog title should be an image of logo text, if you aren't worried about looking like a walking advertisement. That font suits you.

WhiteDiamonds said... Reply to comment

@Anon

Oh hopefully... that would be so lovely!

And ohh, that... I suppose that does make sense. You are not the first person who has made such an observation, as I've had people ask me about that in my offline life as well (like, have I ever lived in Britain at any point in my life). I really don't know where it came from as I've never even traveled there, sadly, but the only reasoning I can think of is that I was a bit of a Twilight Sparkle when I was really young and spent much of my time by myself reading books (if I wasn't being a young Rarity who was busy drawing/sewing/making things that is). And the vast majority of the books were fabulous fictions by British authors... C.S. Lewis, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll and of course my favorite Tolkein (I read Lord of the Rings for the first time when I was eleven), among others. So the only thing I can think of is that maybe I absorbed some of the lexicon as I was growing up as a result... that or I was British in a past life, I suppose.

On a similar note, I so LOVE fancy names! If I ever end up having children you will all have to pity them because they'll have long elaborate names like Wendy Moira Angela Darling did in Peter Pan. Oh yeah.

And well, thank you for that dear... I really do try and make an effort to respond to each and every comment I receive and to let people know how much I appreciate them taking the time to share their thoughts with me. This is a good part of the reason why I'm a bit hesitant to start putting my work up on deviantArt again, as I honestly don't know at this point if I could keep up with the commentary and other demands that take time (I feel bad enough not being able to respond here for days at a time, sometimes!). Hopefully someday I'll be able to because I really do enjoy the ability to network like that with people... perhaps that genuine love of shared communication is this "personality" that you speak of. ^_~

And do you know, I have thought about customizing my blog a bit more as currently everything is just from the default settings (with the exception of the "Reply" buttons as I had to add those in, and I will admit I do like the simple blue and white color scheme as it looks nicely clean and modern to me). I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Perhaps I'll try and find the time to do that later today or tomorrow.

That's just something hipsters say when something that they like gains popularity, making them "mainstream". It's sort of a meme.

Well, yes I suppose I was... I was definitely a lot more introverted than I am now. But I don't know how much I have in common with Twilight these days, other than I very much adore a beautiful night sky!

And let me see, certainly not on this computer anyway. I might have some on my desktop. Most of my files are kept stored on flash drives to free up space, and I still haven't found all of my things since moving in, but when I do find them I'll try and remember to put some things up for you. You might have to remind me though, I know I have a terrible tendency to forget things!

Oh, I'd love to some some of your other works, Di! (squeals) It might start of a chain of creative explosions in my head...not literally. You never know!

And yes, I have a tendency to read travelogues myself. Lonely Planet is my favorite publisher by far, though some other publishers provide little tidbits I like. I think I first read my first novel (Harry Potter, what else) when I was 7. Since then, I've been quite an avid reader. Now that I think about it, I'm also setting up the groundwork for a story of my own...expect some emails in the near future! =D
