A Massive Post of Pony Miscellanea

Good evening darlings! At long last, after weeks of sitting on some of these things I've returned to the internet and find myself with sufficient free time to contribute to the pony fandom once again, so have one massive compilation post filled with various artworks, photos, and other assorted tidbits, some of which are long overdue at this point! First up is a very special project, made as a birthday gift for a very dear friend of mine, the fabulous and exceedingly talented fanfiction writer Ponydora Prancypants. As some of you may know, I have been employed at a ceramics studio at least part time for a good while now, and amongst my other duties I am occasionally responsible for painting ceramic pieces or helping to teach others to do so. For my notorious coffee-guzzling friend I decided that a travel tumbler featuring his favorite pony might be an appropriate gift, so I painted a scene of Rarity inspired by a deviantART muro drawing on a preexisting bisque piece that was special ordered for just the occasion, which is fully functional in addition to being a one-of-a-kind handpainted artwork.Unfortunately due to the three-dimensional nature of the piece it doesn't photograph exceptionally well (even if I was a decent photographer, which I'm sorry to say that I'm not really) but still, with any luck you all can get the general idea.

And a couple additional photos, including a bonus shot of the underside. I'm happy to say that he seemed to enjoy it very much!

Next, have some assorted fanart pieces, first of which is Spike who until recently, I think I had only ever hastily sketched once or twice, I'm ashamed to say. This picture was inspired by my dearest friend Harwick, whose descriptions of Spike's character as a youngster who "needs to be put to bed, reminded not to give himself tummy aches, all of that" in a post struck me as being so incredibly sweet and endearing that I was instantly consumed with the mental image of a cute sleepy Spike in footie pajamas, which I just had to draw. Now, while Spike is a baby dragon I realize he's not an absolute infant and honestly has shown incredibly maturity for his age in the past, but still, I really couldn't help myself with this one... please don't hate me Spike fans~ ^.^;;

To help make up for Spike's apparent lack of indignation in the above image, perhaps, have some assorted doodles of him dealing with the others' reactions. I have to say, that after all of this time of never drawing him I found this exceptionally fun to do.

And lastly in the vein of new artwork, have an adorable Applejack that I simply couldn't resist coloring. Because she is a cute precious pony. Darling Applejaaaack~~! <3 <3

And that is all on the fanart front! Or, at least when it comes to my own works. For other assorted fangeekery on my part as well as some photos of various goodies, please read more after the break! <3

Something New, and Long Overdue

Meheh, yes, arguably long overdue indeed, insofar as I'm sure most anyone who knows me can only wonder how it has possibly taken me so long to get some new season three shipping-inspired artwork up. ^_^; But at least I can assure you all it hasn't been for lack of inspiration or ideas! In fact, if anything I've probably had too many ideas for my own good that I haven't been able to settle on any one of them long enough to start on/complete a picture to my satisfaction, but in the end I happened to accidentally doodle this little image one day when working on something else entirely unrelated, and decided it would do at least as well as anything else for a start.

Honestly, this picture probably isn't much, and especially when you consider the fact I've mentioned more than once that I'll be getting it up soon for over a week, but for what it's worth I am happy enough with the way it turned out and can only hope that it's a decent enough way to round out 2012. If it's not entirely obvious, I took my inspiration in this case from Rarity's fainting scene in "Magic Duel" (sans ugly dress of course), since I personally thought it was quite cute that Applejack came to her "rescue" in such a way, and if nothing else proved herself to be a most excellent alternative to a chaise longue. I've made an alternate, blue sky version of the image as well (since so many of my artworks of these two together seem to be on pinkish backgrounds, for whatever reason), which I will post/link to as soon as I get the image uploaded to my deviantART (EDIT: And yes, over a week later here it is! I really must apologize to you all for my terrible short-term memory... ^_^;).

So yes, the last new blog post of 2012, no doubt... to all of my followers I wish you a most excellent and Happy New Year, and I hope to see you on the other side then! Cheers, friends.

Applejacket, and Some Others~

Yes, nearly a week after posting her on my deviantART, I'm finally getting my Applejack Appreciation Day piece of my favorite darling cowpony posted here to my blog... I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to do but I suppose I hadn't wanted to cut off active conversations that had been in progress on the previous thread before now. Anyway, you've all already seen her of course and so I imagine she isn't too terribly exciting to look at, but I wanted to post her anyway because of course I absolutely love and adore Applejack, and more than most any other pony I like to think she deserves to be well-represented here on my blog. <3

I did promise some "others" as well though none are much to look at or speak of, but some have been sitting around in my files unseen for a while now and I figured I may as well share to make for a more engaging update. Feel free to check them out after the break if you like!

More Gifts/Drawfriend Doodle-Roundup #5!

Good morning all! After what has been ages, I've taken a small break from my regularly-scheduled commission work and done a few pieces of personal fanart, as well as another gift or two that I'm very happy to be able to share you all! It's been forever since I've had the occasion to make a post such as this, so without further ado, here they are~

First off is a doodle which has probably been a long time coming, and which I've mentioned wanting to do many times but just have never gotten around to: my first-ever fanart of Spitfire! I've been kicking around this idea for ages now but after a recent conversation on my previous post about said pony, and after learning that I'd missed my friend Kateasaurus' birthday (she's a big fan of Spitfire) I decided there was no time like the present. Hopefully you enjoy her especially, Katie-dear, because she was made with you in mind and I wanted to do something to make up for missing your birthday!

..Okay, I know what you all are probably thinking and really, I have no excuse for myself. But I can say at least that I originally made the sketch of this picture months ago! This doodle is a reference to a line in a fanfiction, Diamond in the Rough, that described Fluttershy "joylessly pounding down shot after shot like an old, bitter alcoholic". As out of character as it was I still found the mental image hilarious the first time I read the story, and told the author in my comments on the EqD thread that someday, I would make a fanart of the idea. Nearly six months later, I have at last.

D'aww, Twilight Sparkle can be so adorable when she wants to be. This picture was a definite quickie and was not inspired by anything in particular, just the result of some random sketching I did while working on my upcoming commissioned piece. She looked so cute that I decided to finish her, and I suppose more Twilight is always welcome by many of you besides.

Yes, once again I know what you all are thinking, but for once I have created a piece of Rarijack fanart for somebody other than myself! This picture was done as a birthday gift for a friend of mine, who happens to like this pairing about as much as I do and who I had discussed the idea of an artwork with, the end consensus being that an excessively adorable picture of Applejack and Rarity together was in order (hopefully I managed to achieve just that). Though I think it's pretty decidedly shippy, I suppose there's still enough wiggle-room in personal interpretations to imagine this as more of a friendshipping picture for those who are so inclined... in any case I only hope that you're happy with it dear friend of mine because that's all that matters to me. *^_^* Excessively adorable ponies~~

Well it's a relatively small offering of artworks for a Roundup this time around, and in all fairness a few of them are a step or two above many of my doodles, but I'm merely excited to get some personal artworks up again and am happy I was able to squeeze these out in the record time that I did. Coming up next is another commission, which if all goes according to plan I will be able to share with you all very soon. Until then, stay lovely dears~!

And Now for Something a Little Bit Different--Commission #7!

Good evening, dearest friends and followers! I am happy to say that at last, and perhaps a day or two later than I intended to have it up Commission #7 is here. And I'm certainly pleased and relieved to be able to share it with you all now.

This commission was done for the lovely BaffMan of pony community fame, who also happens to be a fellow Rarijack fan which of course I can hardly complain about. He came to me wanting a piece that brought to life a little scene written by himself and a fellow fan and friend from my understanding, and I did my best to do his vision justice, resulting in the cute little scene above where Rarity is not altogether thrilled by her experience helping Applejack in the orchard (Applejack, by contrast seems to find this turn of events highly entertaining). This particular piece of course is not especially shippy which I'm sure some of you will appreciate, though as per usual with my fanworks I am always happy to leave things open for personal interpretation.

As I'm sure is entirely obvious at first glance, this picture is quite different from most of my commissions to date, and certainly from the full-scale digital paintings that have made up my last two paid works. Baff, however, was perfectly content to ask for something more along the lines of what I frequently refer to as my doodles, and I can say that I was more than happy to be able to fulfill such a request... in a way it was a great deal of fun really and a pleasant change of pace from my more elaborate endeavors. Hopefully you all will enjoy the end result as well, and even if the piece is arguably not as "impressive" as some of the others that I have done.

As usual, I'm happy to tell you all that you can be expecting some more new artwork from me soon... very soon in fact if I'm able to stick to a personal deadline that I have given myself. While I can't promise there will be much in the way of personal fanart as I was originally hoping, seeing as how I once again have several commissions lined up I can only hope that you all will enjoy the offerings all the same, and very much look forward to being able to share them with you.

Until next time then, I trust you all will remain quite fabulous. Cheers, darlings~!

We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Art for Something SPECIAL!! Plus, Trixie~

Greetings, lovely followers, and what a delightfully glorious day it is! I'm interrupting my previously scheduled art posts (meaning the commissioned piece I intend to have completed within the next day or two) to bring you all something special which could not wait, and which I feel deserves its own celebratory post even if it could. And that special something is a fabulous gift I received yesterday in the mail. Namely, this:

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you... this really IS one of the most adorable little works of art to ever be crafted by human hands. An absolutely precious little Applejack, looking sad and alone, and clutching onto a tiny Rarity plushie. I mean seriously, if someone denied me my pills for a week and subjected me to nonstop work stress, I doubt it could cause my heart to flutter any more than this.

This gift was made and mailed to me by an exceedingly kind artist, of Equestria Daily and deviantART fame who goes by the name of dusty, perhaps better known as Sond on this blog. The terrifically fabulous thing is that I was aware of his artwork already (do check out his deviantART gallery), and in fact had been gushing on about one of his sculptures in an EqD custom compilation post only days before Applejack arrived. He made her for me simply as a show of appreciation for my artwork, he said, a gesture which I obviously find immensely touching and flattering and which of course I wanted to repay somehow, hence the Trixie doodle-art above (she's one of his favorite ponies, and I was excited to do the piece because I've never drawn her before ^_^). So yes, needless to say I can hardly express my gratitude for such an immensely kind act, and I personally feel Trixie was the absolute least I could do to make it up to him (I hope you enjoy her, dear).

Of course, as I'm sure you can all imagine there are plenty more photos of Applejack where the above came from, and in the interest of saving space on my front page you can find them all after the break. So. Incredibly. Adorable~!! <3 <3 <3

At Long Last My Latest Commissioned Piece, Plus Happy Holiday Bonus!

Aaaaaaaghhh good evening everypony!

Finally, after what has probably been a month of no new art updates (maybe even longer, I haven't double-checked), I have at last finished my latest pony commission, and with the owner's permission I am now able to share it with you all!

This piece was commissioned by ILoveFluttershy, who asked for a scene of Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy walking together beside a lake beneath a beautiful night sky. Hopefully I was able to do his vision proper justice, and I certainly did work pretty hard on this one (hopefully now, also, you can all understand why I refer to most of my fanarts as doodles; this is an actual effort by me!). This picture is different from most if not all of the pony-pictures I've done to date, I think, because it actually was a full digital painting... most of my pieces so far I think have been done with SAI Painter's marker/pencil tools.

Anyway though, hopefully this makes up for my lack of recent artworks at least a little bit. It does have its flaws which I can't help noticing, but for the most part I'm content. And, as I've finally had a little free time outside of work, I was able to finish one of the fun little winter/holiday pictures I've had in mind for weeks, featuring my two favorite ponies once again. As I've been under a lot of stress lately though, and was going through withdrawals I'm not going to apologize for it!

I don't think Applejack suspected the prim and proper Rarity could throw such a mean snowball.

Anyhow though! There's probably a whole lot more I can add, and I actually thought about a few things but I suppose this post is long enough as-is, and there are always further updates after all. In any case, I wish you all the happiest of holidays, and a very Happy New Year as well! Until next time my dears, stay fabulous~!

Blessed Black Friday, Everypony!

I know, it doesn't have quite the same ring as "Happy Thanksgiving" I'm afraid, but as once again I am fashionably late with finishing my artworks and updating my blog accordingly it will have to do (and perhaps there are some shopping mavens and deal-conscious individuals amongst you all who can appreciate the Black Friday well-wishes, who knows). I do apologize for that, though I hope all of my fellow American followers had an enjoyable holiday yesterday all the same.

Anyhow though, sadly not much in the way of artworks this time around, though I did want to put up the one doodle I have managed to finish seeing as how I don't know when I'll be able to get my next personal projects completed and up. It's of my two favorite ponies once again... I'm not sure if Applejack lost a bet or something, or if this is just a 'what you didn't see' from The Best Night Ever but either way she doesn't look as if she's enjoying herself much, poor dear (not that Rarity is daunted either way). Unlike some of my artworks of these two this wasn't really intended as particularly shippy, though as I always like to leave room for personal interpretation people should feel free to think of it that way if they choose!

Well, hopefully the next time I update here I will be fully moved and settled into my new home, which will be a wonderful thing most definitely. Again I don't know when I'll be able to get any new personal artworks up but I do have several commissioned projects in the works, which I shall be prioritizing until I get myself caught up. So, yes, hopefully you'll all be seeing those soon enough. Until next time then dears~!

Have Some Sketches Dears, and Other News

So, after some recent inquiries by some of you to see my pony sketches, and despite my concerns about the horrible quality of some of them I thought I'd go ahead and put up some of my aimless rough doodles for those who might enjoy them (I'm using a page break for the first time for these, as there are quite a few of them and most really are quite messy. Those who are interested can kindly click the "Read More" button). They are exclusive of my notebook sketches as my flat-bed scanner is currently packed, but I'm still surprised there aren't more of them to show and especially of the digital sketches... apparently many of them have been lost/accidentally deleted. I do apologize for that anyway.

In other news, there's something else that I've been meaning to address/have been thinking about adding to my posts for quite some time now, in the way of labeling them so that content will be more easily accessible if people are looking for certain things. Doodle-Roundups, possible future sketchdumps, pony-specific artworks, etc. I'm not sure if my going back and editing posts makes them reappear in everyone's updates listings but if so, I apologize; this is the reason for that.

Anyhow, that's all of consequence for now, I believe... hopefully those of you who requested the sketches will enjoy them despite the awful quality. Cheers, friends~!

Drawfriend Doodle-Roundup #3

See my commentary about the way I title these things on my last roundup post... I still don't know how appropriate it is. Oh well though.

Anyhow, yay, some more new artwork to share, already! Thank goodness for days off. I was able to get a few little sketches of days past colored up today, have found a few potential qualifiers for a place to live (one to be seen tomorrow), and have this week's recorded episode of America's Next Top Model to watch a little bit later tonight (joy~)... life is good for the moment. So on that happy note, have some pony-doodles.

I don't care if I've said it before, Applejack truly needs more love, and I at least intend to do my best to show her some! Despite the more finished look to this picture (as compared to most of my other pony doodles) I actually got this done in pretty record time... I surprised myself actually.

Yay Applejack. <3

Ahaha, talk about a speed-doodle! This picture was drawn and colored very quickly, but it turned out decent enough despite this, I suppose. Embrace the excessive cuteness that is Fluttershy.

Ahhh my favorite guilty pleasure (well next to Mexican food that is.. *aherm*)... I told you all you're bound to get this sooner or later. And usually sooner. For those who are so inclined, have some implied Rarijack fluffiness, and for those who are not so, err... feel free to interpret this as you will!

Though it is a bit belated now, I told Derpy on her EqD birthday thread that I would draw her a fanart, and I meant it! I know it's not much but I like to hope she'd enjoy it all the same. This was also my first time drawing our favorite wonky pegasus and I very much enjoyed the experience. ^^

And lastly, have something a little bit different from me... some excessively (probably obnoxiously) cute chibi-ponies. I doodled these for fun a week or two ago and decided to color them for sharing, in a completely different style than my usual MLP fare (just to mix things up a bit I suppose). Yes~

Well, that's all for now friends! With any luck I shall be back with more sometime within the next week or so, including another commissioned work that is currently in the planning and development stages, haha. Until then dears~!

Drawfriend Doodle-Roundup #2

I'm not really sure why I titled my original post on this blog as a 'Drawfriend Roundup'... I guess it's because all the art I posted I had previously submitted to EqD's Drawfriend (though only about half of them were actually featured). So even if it's not strictly true, for the sake of continuity I suppose I'll title this similarly.

Anyway though! Just a bunch of random pony doodles, most of which I sketched over the past couple days and colored last night. None of them are much artistically-speaking but then, I guess that's why I call them doodles.

PinkieDash shipping, you say? Well, maybe not necessarily, even though that pairing is rather cute when I think about it, I suppose. But in all honesty this idea just came to me, entirely devoid of context so I'll leave that up to each of you to interpret.

I suppose "meh" says it all, doesn't it? Just a quick Rarity doodle, looking bored (but still fabulous, of course).

...Yeah, I'm not really sure what I was thinking either. o_o It just came to me. To be honest I really don't love this picture, even for a doodle it irks me somehow but perhaps somepony else will enjoy it! Perhaps...

Okay I will not lie... I actually made this picture last week but didn't post it because I didn't like it! And I still don't, but again maybe somepony else will... hopefully anyway.

Haha... I really can't help myself. Give me any length of time and tell me to draw ponies and sooner or later (usually sooner) you shall get Applejack and Rarity. I really can't say for certain what's going on in this little scene for those who are curious... again, interpret it as you will. ;)

And that's all for now dearies! More to come soon enough though, including a special piece I've had in the works for someone. Until then~ ^_^

Yet More Artwork, Joy~!

Yes me again... this is what happens when I'm left without my sewing machine I suppose; I make more fanart and put more time into it to boot!

I'm sure most people have deduced by now that Applejack and especially Rarity are my two favorite ponies and so I guess it's only natural I tend to devote most of my fanart energies to them (for which I make no apologies by the way, they both need more love anyway!). This picture was somewhat inspired by a cute little exchange in chapter 17 of Growing Pains, one of the few pony fanfics I've read and one of an even smaller number among those I follow when I have the time. But yes.

Not only did I put a little more time into this picture than usual, I made it on a much larger scale as well (in response to popular demand). I might continue to do the latter with my future projects if people prefer it... do let me know you all, won't you?

Until next time then, cheers all~! ^.^

Drawfriend Roundup #1

Hello, any and all who might actually be inclined to check out my little fanworks blog. ^.^ I recently got the idea, after several inquiries on Equestria Daily, to find or create one single place to post up all my pony fanarts, seeing as how they have a tendency to go astray when I submit them to Equestria Daily for Drawfriend. Quite understandable considering how busy Seth and his team stay... anyway though. Hopefully this shall serve as a nice convenient place to get them all online, for any who might be interested in checking them out~

All my current doodles to date, compiled in one post!

*****

The very first piece I submitted for Drawfriend; don't judge me!

It had to be done.

This was actually one of my very first pony sketches, and it was the very first I slapped some color onto. I don't particularly care for it myself (I actually never even bothered submitting it), but that doesn't mean somepony else won't like it. Possibly.

This one actually did end up making an appearance on EqD, but not in Drawfriend (go figure). Yay random Rarity appearance~

One of the few that made it! And you'll have to excuse the less-then-stellar quality; my tablet's pressure sensitivity gave out halfway through but I finished with it anyway.

I actually drew and colored this at the same time as the previous three. Hence the shared questionable quality.

Evil, Discorded Fluttershy! I put a bit more time into this than most of the others, perhaps that shows.

I'm not sure what possessed me to make this, but I am glad something did. ^^

The most recent picture I finished. I think those creepy mugs would give me recurring nightmares, too.

*****

That's all for now, hopefully more to come soon though!
